Cardiac Rehabilitation

Safe, structured exercise to support your recovery and build long-term cardiovascular health, tailored to your condition, fitness level and comorbidites. Guided Rehab will aim provide one-to-one support.

Who this is for

Cardiac rehabilitation is for anyone living with a cardiac condition who wants specialist exercise support and Educational support on cardiac risk factors and long term benifits of exercise.

  • You have recently had a heart attack, coronary artery bypass graft, TAVI, PCI, or have been diagnosed with heart failure, cardiomyopathy or an arrhythmia
  • You have finished Phase 3 cardiac rehab and want continued support
  • You have never been offered cardiac rehab and would like specialist exercise support
  • You are feeling anxious about returning to exercise and/or you are unsure on how to exercise safely with a cardiac condition.

Cardiac rehabilitation helps improve cardiovascular efficiency and lowers the risk of future cardiac events. Structured exercise has been shown to improve heart function, reduce blood pressure, and support long-term recovery. Guided Rehabs aim is to give you the confidence and education to ensure you are making the right steps with your long term management of your cardiac condition.

What you can expect to work on:

  • Building cardiovascular fitness safely and gradually
  • Strength training appropriate to your condition
  • Monitoring heart rate, blood pressure, and symptoms
  • Building your confidence to exercise independently and return to your active daily living activities

Every programme is built around your cardiac condition, comorbidites, symptoms and goals. There's no standard template. The first session is always an assessment to understand and evaluate your functional capacity, which will enable me to monitor your progress before and after rehabilitation, and establish safe exercise intensity prescriptions.

Sessions are one-to-one, so you get my full attention throughout. Adjusting the programme as needed.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to exercise after a heart attack?

Yes. Structured exercise after a cardiac event is strongly supported by clinical evidence and is a key part of recovery.

Do I need a referral from my cardiologist?

No referral is needed. You can self-refer or provide a BACPR transfer form from your Phase 3 programme.

What's the difference between NHS cardiac rehab and private sessions?

NHS rehab typically runs 8-12 weeks in a group. Private sessions offer continued one-to-one support tailored to your specific needs, for as long as you need.

How soon after discharge can I start?

You can start any time after being discharged from NHS cardiac rehab, or from your cardiac team if you weren't offered rehab.

Do you work with my GP or consultant?

Yes, I'm happy to liaise with your medical team to ensure continuity of care.
